When Peter laughed, you couldn't help but to laugh with him. His laughter came from his soul, and it always affected everyone around him. And, he was always pushing the envelope when it came to pulling others into his shenanigans. As his friend Colton said, "he was always making an awkward situation more awkward, in the best way!" Of all the things his friends and family miss about Peter, his laughter, and ability to have fun, are at the top of the list.
Peter also had a genuinely kind soul. He was always there for his friends - even when times were tough for him. As his friend Emma said, "You always put others above yourself in every situation without a second thought - you never had a problem sacrificing for others and sticking true to what you believe in". And, of course, he loved his cats, Tiki (pictured) and Boah.
Peter was born in Beverley, England, on November 4th, 1993., two years and one day after his brother Erik. He left us on April 18th, 2018, near Westcliffe Colorado. During his life he left so many friends and family with wonderful memories. His "gromie" Lauren probably said it best - "You have forever left your mark on my heart........I love you so much Peter....And I miss you every second."

The weather was beautiful yesterday (5/18/18) and we were able to hike to Peter's first Forever Place in the mountains with our dear friends Bill and KC Reshel. Peter was near this place when he was probably about 12, but he never was at this spot.

Erik and I were able to visit Peter's second Forever Place yesterday. It was a beautiful, sunny day. The location we went to was close to a previous hike the three of us took a couple of years ago, and was definitely on our list to do sometime this summer.

"Rest in Peace Brother" - Erik's words at our third Forever place for Peter. This past Sunday (6/10/18), Erik and I took a hike on the front range near Florence CO. It was very warm and windy, and Peter's ashes flew like a bird as they left Erik's hand. We Love and miss you Peter - there is not an hour that goes by that we don't think about you.
Peter's Uncle Wolf made a very interesting observation after this image was posted on Peter's Facebook account. Wolf's comment; " I'm not even sure if anyone else can see it, but I immediately saw what I perceived to be Peter's facial image on Erik's rib cage... as if he were watching himself fly when Erik released his ashes into the mountain breeze. I think this photo is very special! " While I did not notice this when I originally posted it, I see it plain as day now!
I think Peter would have been laughing at us a bit on this journey. Erik and I lost track of the trail for a bit. I also managed to slip off some rocks (maybe nudged by Peter?? - it certainly would not be beyond him...) while crossing a creek and thoroughly soaked one foot, which was a little annoying during three or so miles we had to hike to get back to the car.

On July 20th, 2018, we went to one of Peter's favorite spots very close to home with his Aunt and Uncle, Rich and Lora Kober. He loved to pack a lunch, go bone hunting, then go up to this rock ledge to eat his lunch and enjoy the view. It was a beautiful ceremony - Lora and Rich "officiated" - thanks so much you guys!

Over the Labor Day weekend, 2018, Peter's cousin Erika visited us. While she was here we took a hike near the Great Sand Dunes, which is a place we visited as a family a couple of times in the past. We had great fun hiking in the dunes during those visits. The video below is of our ceremony with Erika, and at the end of the the video I added a couple of pictures taken during our last family visit to the Dunes. We Love you and miss you Peter.

This past weekend (9/15/18) we were visited by Peter's Oma, Onkel Juergen and Tante Lori. We held a brief ceremony on our property where Juergen gave a beautiful tribute to Peter. Thanks to all of you for coming to visit, and sharing you Love for and memories of Peter.

I wanted to post this much sooner, but the audio on the attached video was pretty rough and I needed to figure out how to improve it a little bit. Peter's Aunt Barb was out to visit during the first week of October, 2018. During that week we took a hike and performed a ceremony for Peter in view of the beautiful Spanish Peaks. I have included Barb's words (as close as I can get them anyway) below the video link because some of the audio is still a little rough.

"My dearest Peter. I am finally here with you in these beautiful mountains. I wanted to share this with you for quite a while now. Your last months in Appleton were very special to me. You have no idea how happy you made me when you took the time to see me during those visits with Oma and Opa, and even invited me to your last apartment to meet Boa. It was during that time that I have really got to see the fine young man you became. I saw your genuine kindness and compassion with Oma and Opa; your empathy and willingness to help others; your love of animals; and especially our shared love of our kitties. Also, your delight in cooking and eating good food, and your great sense of humor. You grew from that adorable , rotund, Buda bellied baby - the cutest baby ever - into a kind hearted but fun loving young man. You are dearly missed, and forever shed tears to my heart. Peace be with you Peter, now and forever more. I love you and miss you so much. Here Peter, spread your wings. Bye Petie, I love you Peter."

It is hard to believe it has been a year since Peter left us. We spent the week on the gulf coast in Texas to be together and reflect. He is now forever dancing in the waves. Angie's words summed up some of the feelings we all have experienced;
"As I gaze at the snow capped mountains, I hear you in the winds that blow through the pinon and ponderosa pines. The warm sun on my face comforts me as I watch the Golden Eagles and Red Tailed Hawks soar above me in the brilliant blue sky. It is as if you are the bird hovering over me telling me you are OK. During the day I see you playing and jumping from one cloud to the next. At night, the stars are twinkling, which is like you winking at me and telling me you are watching . I see you long boarding through the universe, with a peaceful smile on your face. I hear you playing your bass guitar, playing all your favorite songs, and I know you are performing just for me. I feel your presence through your cat Tiki. When the days are difficult, she never leaves my side and even lays on top of me, telling me it will be OK. You surround me with your Love everywhere I go. You give me strength, and wrap your spirit around me when I need it most. You are in me, around me, and will always be part of me. And, when I need it most, I hear your unique belly laugh, and I know you are OK. I will be OK knowing you are always there. I miss you in this physical life Peter, but I know someday we will be together again in the place you are now - so beautiful and astonishingly mind blowing and special; just as your are. You have been a precious gift, although taken away way too soon. I Love you."

We love and miss you so much Peter.
Lauren, one of Peter's best friends, came to visit us in Colorado. While she was here, we visited a couple of Peter's Forever Places, and we created a new one! This location is not far from our home, and is on the edge of the Sangre deCristo Wilderness Area. We are very thanful that Lauren came to visit - it was great to get to know her, and we can see why Peter found such a great friend in her.
